There's more than one way to grow bone

In this era of recombinant bone morphogenic proteins that cost $5,000 per patient per level, it's refreshing to note that there are more ways to jump start bone healing. Last week, Orthofix announced it had submitted data to the FDA from a 323 patient clinical trial that showed that cervical fusion patients healed significantly faster with electromagnetic stimulation than without it. With 150,000 cervical fusions annually and growing fast, finding news ways to speed and ensure healing is a growing and important market.
