Senate Panel Approves Crawford as FDA Head

Lester Crawford's lengthy approval process to formally serve as FDA Commissioner took a great leap forward today when the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions approved his nomination. To date, he has held the post of Acting Commissioner of the Agency.
It's still an unknown as to when the whole Senate will actually vote and opposition is expected from democrats particularly Hillary Rodham Clinton (NY) and Patty Murray (WA) who have already placed a hold on the Crawford nomination over women's health issues.
