Alphatec Spine Adds Another Seasoned Executive to Management Team BY EDITOR, SEPTEMBER 28, 2005

Scott Wiese named Vice President of Business Development & Marketing

CARLSBAD, California, September 28, 2005 /PRNewswire/-- Alphatec Spine, Inc., ("Alphatec") today appointed Scott Wiese as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing. The hiring underscored the firm's recently completed transition from contract medical device manufacturer to a vertically integrated orthopedic device company.

Alphatec CEO John Foster remarked, "The winners in the fast-growing spine segment of the orthopedics business will be those companies who can bring the right management on board. Scott fits into our growth strategy perfectly."

Mr. Wiese comes to Alphatec with over 20 years of Marketing and Sales background with Abbott Spine, Medtronic Sofamor Danek, BASF Corporation/Knoll Pharmaceutical, Pfizer/Howmedica Surgical Division, Glaxo Pharmaceuticals and Adria Laboratories. Scott obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree at Southern Illinois University and a Master of Arts in Organizational Management at the University of Phoenix.

Ronald G. Hiscock, Alphatec President and Chief Operating Officer, recruited Scott because of his proven track record in large spine and healthcare organizations. "Scott is recognized in the industry for his knowledge of the business, and his professional working relationships with surgeons throughout the country," Hiscock said.
