Alphatec Spine Announces Appointments to Research and IT Positions BY EDITOR, NOVEMBER 22, 2005

Steven Reinecke to be VP of Research & Development, Brian Plotkin to be VP of Information Technology.

CARLSBAD, California, November 22, 2005 /PRNewswire/-- Alphatec Spine, Inc. ("Alphatec"), a vertically-integrated spinal device company, today announced the appointments of Steven Reinecke as Vice President of Research & Development, and Brian Plotkin as Vice President of Information Technology.

Ronald G. Hiscock, Chief Executive Officer, said, "Alphatec's success is largely due to its ability to innovate and quickly commercialize orthopedic devices that meet market needs. That's why we're excited to have an executive like Steven Reinecke lead our research efforts. He'll work directly with our in-house manufacturing team and Scientific Advisory Board of Physicians. Brian Plotkin will fill an essential role in growing and maintaining Alphatec's information infrastructure."

Prior to joining Alphatec, Steven Reinecke was Vice President, Research and Development, at Orthofix Inc. He led a multinational research and development effort, and directed the firm's clinical research activities. Reinecke was previously Vice President, Research and Development, at Kinesis Medical, where he led the firm's non-invasive spine division and general operations of its Minneapolis facility.

Brian Plotkin was CIO at Kyphon Inc. before joining Alphatec. While at Kyphon, he directed all aspects of global applications development, network services, and desktop support services. He oversaw rapid and successful expansion of the IT staff, and launched firmwide a WAN and intranet. Plotkin was previously IT Applications Development Manager at Centerpulse Inc., and held various positions at Tyco Healthcare Group LP.
