BY SHELLY ACHAIBAR, FEBRUARY 13, 2006
Medtronic announced today that the TSRH Spinal System implants have surpassed the 2.5 million mark worldwide. Medtronic in conjunction with the Scottish Rite Hospital (TSRH), one of the nation's leading pediatric centers for the treatment of orthopedic conditions, created the system to treat scoliosis in children. "We've been partnering with Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children for 20 years and are proud to acknowledge passing the monumental milestone of 2.5 million TSRH System implants that have improved the quality of life for so many patients suffering from scoliosis and other degenerative spinal disorders", said Peter Wehrly, senior vice president and president of Medtronic's Spinal and Navigation Divisions.
The TSRH Spinal System is intended to help provide immobilization and stabilization of spinal segments as an adjunct to fusion of the thoracic, lumbar, and/or sacral spine. The original TSRH Spinal System has expanded its gold standard product line with several other additions: TSRH-3D System, TSRH-3D Plus MPA Multi Planar Screw System and most recently, the TSRH Silo 5.5 Spinal System.
