Smith & Nephew Receives DOJ Subpoena

Smith & Nephew announced today that it had received a subpoena from the U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division, for documents relating to possible antitrust issues over the manufacture and sale of orthopedic implant devices, joining its peers Zimmer, Biomet, Stryker and DePuy.
It is still unclear what the DOJ is investigating with its latest round of subpoenas to orthopedics manufacturers. Biomet's interim president and chief executive, Daniel Hann said earlier this week, "Frankly, we do not know specifically what the investigation is about."
