Regeneration Technologies and Cryolife to Enter Exchange and Service Agreement
BY JOHN MCCORMICK, DECEMBER 19, 2006
Allograft companies, Regeneration Technologies (RTI) and Cryolife announced a non-cash exchange and service agreement this morning concerning their orthopedic and cardiovascular processing.
With respect to orthopedics, starting January 1, CryoLife will work to transition existing tissue recovery and donation arrangements for human orthopedic tissue to RTI. RTI, in turn, will do the same with cardiovascular arrangements on behalf of Cryolife. Each company expects to wind down distribution of these redirected activities over the next eighteen months and enter a non-compete thereafter. The agreement also involves a partial asset and intellectual property trade.
Both parties believe that the agreement will allow each company to focus on the tissue type it works with best. Notably, believes this will help the company better serve customers seeking sports medicine implants.
