DePuy Reports 4Q:06 Financials

Johnson & Johnson reported 4Q:06 financials yesterday. As part of the report they provided insights into DePuy Orthopedics. Generally speaking, DePuy's 4Q:06 were mediocre at best.
DePuy reported revenues of $1.06 billion for the 4Q:06 which was an 8% increase as reported and a 6% increase excluding currency. The Company reported that spinal sales decreased 4% in U.S. and declined 1% worldwide. This represents the fourth consecutive quarter with negative spine growth.
The Company's large joint reconstruction revenues also showed decelerating rates of growth during the 4Q:06. Hip sales increased 7% during the 4Q:06 which is down from the 12% rate of growth posted during the 3Q:06. Knee sales increased 3% worldwide and 6% in the U.S. during the 4Q:06 this compares to a 3% increase worldwide and a 6% increase in the U.S. in the 3Q:06.
