Hawkins to Lead Immucor, Inc.
BY LAUREN UZDIENSKI, OCTOBER 6, 2011
Former Medtronic CEO Bill Hawkins will be Immucor's new CEO, taking the reins from Joshua Levine, who is stepping down to spend more time with family. The appointment will be effective October 17, 2011.
Immucor is a diagnostics company that manufactures reagents and systems used to detect and identify cell and serum components of human blood prior to blood transfusions. Their website states that they're dedicated to automating manual processes in the blood bank laboratory.
Based in Atlanta, Immucor was a public company traded under the ticker BLUD until their August 2011 acquisition by TPG Capital. In conjunction with the CEO announcement, Mr. Hawkins has been named Senior Advisor to TPG Capital. In that role, Mr. Hawkins will advise TPG Capital on investment opportunities and "continue to play a role advocating for policies that will strengthen the healthcare system."
