Straumann Reorganization Addresses Portfolio Complexity and Geographic Reach
BY MATTHEW JAFFE, DECEMBER 7, 2011
Straumann announced this week that they are implementing a new structure to organize by sales region (EMEA & Latin America, North America, Asia/Pacific) and by business (Surgical, Prosthetics, Regenerative). These changes will help to address the increasing geographic scope and complexity of the dental portfolio. Additionally, it simplifies the structure of the company by removing a layer of senior management to streamline decisions and processes for increased revenues.
The Executive Management Team will expand from four to seven members. The new team will be:
• President & CEO - Beat Spalinger*
• CFO - Thomas Dressendoerfer*
• EVP Prosthetics - Dr. Sandro Matter*
• EVP Surgical - Dr. Rene Willi
• EVP Sales EMEA & LATAM - Frank Hemm
• EVP Sales North America - Andy Molnar
• EVP Sales Asia/Pacific - To be nominated
*Current member
Franz Maier, Executive Vice President of Global Sales, who helped lead the reorganization project, is leaving Straumann at the end of the year. He was the fourth member of the original Executive Management Team.
The cost of the reorganization will be approximately CHF 3-4 million in 2011 and 4-5 million in 2012. Management expects to maintain operating profit within existing guidance. Downsizes or job reductions are not planned.
