Orthofix Announces Expanded MTF Agreement

Orthofix announced yesterday that the company will collaborate with tissue provider MTF to co-develop and commercialize a new bone technology that will be "complementary" to Trinity Evolution. Further, the company extended their MTF agreement, which supports Trinity Evolution, by an additional five years.
Details were vague, but the new technology will be a "new tissue form" that "incorporates all three properties necessary to facilitate bone growth." The product is expected to be available in 2013. Trinity Evolution is a described as cancellous bone containing viable adult stem cells.
The company also pre-announced 4Q:11 earnings. They expect sales for the quarter to rise 5% over the comparable period to $151.3 million, beating analysts' estimates by about $1.0 million.
