Alphatec Spine Appoints New Senior Director of Investor Relations BY EDITOR, JANUARY 19, 2012

Alphatec Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATEC), the parent company of Alphatec Spine, Inc., a medical device company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets products for the surgical treatment of spine disorders, with a focus on treating conditions related to the aging spine, announced today that Mark Francois has been named the Company's Senior Director of Investor Relations.

Mr. Francois will be responsible for providing overall strategic direction and leadership to Alphatec Spine's global investor relations program to effectively communicate the Company's value proposition to the investment community.

Since 2002, Mr. Francois held the position of Director of Investor Relations for DJO Global, Inc., a medical device company with nearly $1 billion in annual sales, where he was responsible for daily interaction with investors and shareholders, marketing the company to institutional investors, as well as making introductions to industry analysts and the media. Prior to DJO Global, Mr. Francois held senior investor relations positions at several San Diego-based companies including Wireless Facilities, Inc., Safeskin Corporation and Quidel Corporation.

"We are pleased to have Mark join the Alphatec Spine team to lead our strategic investor relations function," said Dirk Kuyper, the Company's President and CEO. "Mark is a seasoned professional in the medical device industry with nearly 30 years experience, the last 20 of which in an investor relations capacity. As a leading innovator of products for the surgical treatment of spine disorders, the heart of Alphatec's business is improving the quality of life of people suffering from the debilitating effects of chronic back and neck pain; and in turn helping patients regain their active lifestyles. We look forward to Mark's strategy designed to increase the visibility of Alphatec in the capital markets so that existing and prospective shareholders will better appreciate the Company's underlying value. I also want to thank Westwicke Partners for their strategic guidance and excellent IR counsel the past few years. We appreciate their dedication and professionalism and wish them well after a brief transition period."
