Dr. Helfet was a founding member of the Healthpoint team and has chaired the Scientific Advisory Board and served on portfolio Board of Directors. He brings extensive medical and industry experience to HealthpointCapital. He was previously a member of Synthes' Board of Directors for 10 years. As Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College and Director of the Orthopedic Trauma Service at both Hospital for Special Surgery and New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Helfet is an opinion leader in the fields of orthopedics and trauma. He has been the recipient of many honors and awards, has published extensively on orthopedic trauma topics and is annually ranked as one of New York Magazine's "Best Doctors in New York" and Castle-Connolly's "America's Top Doctors." Dr. Helfet received his BSc and M.B.CH.B degrees from the University of Cape Town, followed by Residency at Johns Hopkins and Fellowships at University of Bern and University of California, Los Angeles.
