CrossRoads Extremity Systems

Fast-growing innovation leader in foot & ankle surgery, with highly differentiated solutions for bunion correction

Overview

Founded in 2014 by Glen Coleman, Vernon Hartdegen and Chad Hollis, CrossRoads Extremity Systems is a pure-play, innovative designer and manufacturer of procedure-specific, sterile-packed implants and instruments for lower extremity surgery. The Company's innovative technologies improve the operating room experience and patient outcomes through simplicity and accuracy for the surgeon and sustainability and cost reduction for healthcare institutions. CrossRoads' Active Stabilization® technology is the only one on the market today to simultaneously offer enhanced stability with continuous compression, optimizing conditions for bone healing in fusion procedures. The Company's EcoSMART® Instrument Service provides customers with gamma sterilized, reusable instruments for every surgical case and post-surgery recovery and processing of those instruments. EcoSMART® reduces the inefficiencies of traditional non-sterile instrument trays and eliminates the waste associated with typical disposable instruments.

HealthpointCapital identified CrossRoads as a cornerstone investment opportunity after a deep-dive search for innovation in the underinvested lower extremities segment, particularly in elective foot & ankle surgery, and complete the acquisition on an exclusive negotiated basis. Under HealthpointCapital's ownership, CrossRoads also successfully broadened the Company's product portfolio with the asset acquisitions of First Ray LLC, Kator LLC and Mortise Medical LLC. These tuck-in acquisitions added complementary product offerings and substantial intellectual property.

In February 2022, following significant revenue growth and innovation cadence, HealthpointCapital sold CrossRoads Extremity Systems to DePuy Synthes, the Orthopaedics Company of Johnson & Johnson.
